Appalachian dance derived originally from English, Irish and Scottish step dancing, taken by the settlers to the Eastern American States. These were distilled into this new dance form, which was influenced and adapted by the local inhabitants. It has become extremely popular in recent years in the UK and is a style of dance as exciting to watch as to perform - as audience response has always shown! Touchwood are based in the East Midlands of England and have been dancing Appalachian Clogging at festivals and many other venues all over England since 1986. If you are interested in joining us, do contact us - we usually take new members each September.
